Lesson plans for February 29th- March 4th

Reminders: End of 3rd quarter is March 15th. We will not have school this Tuesday, March 1st, because of state girls basketball. The girls play at 1:30 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Come support them if you can! Also, we will not have school on Friday, March 4th, as all Osage teachers will be out vising surrounding districts gathering ideas to bring back into our classrooms.

English 7: Monday- students will be assigned their next speech- to inform. Specific requirements will be given during class and students will begin the outlining process.
                 Tuesday- no school
                 Wednesday- work day on speeches; draw for order
                 Thursday- begin presenting speeches
                 Friday- no school

English 8: Monday- students will be working on public service announcements (oral commentary). Students will work in groups of two to present a 5-7 minute mini newscast. Specific requirements will be given during class and students will begin the writing/researching process.
                Tuesday- no school
                Wednesday- work day on oral commentary; draw for order
                Thursday- begin presenting commentaries
                Friday- no school

Lesson plans for February 15th-19th

Reminders: Mid-term grades will be calculated Monday. Please check your student's grades and have conversations about their classes. We are halfway through third quarter already! We will have school on Friday, February 19th, as we are using this day as a snow make-up day. If your student will be gone, please let us know so we can get them their homework.

English 7: Monday: word of the day, Facebook post, finish debates, and begin the persuasive writing process
                 Tuesday: word of the day, Facebook post, organization of persuasive essay activity, look at transition words, and topic sentences
                 Wednesday: word of the day, Facebook post, research/write persuasive essay; begin works cited page
                 Thursday: word of the day, Facebook posts, proofread/edit essays
                 Friday: word of the day, Facebook posts, essays due and No Red Ink practice

English 8: Monday: word of the day, Facebook post, introduction to debates; improv debates and topic discussion
                 Tuesday: word of the day, Facebook post, research debate topics; rehearse with partners
                 Wednesday: word of the day, Facebook post, present debates
                 Thursday: word of the day, Facebook post, finish presenting debates
                 Friday- word of the day, Facebook post, work day on autobiographies
